RINO Alert! - UPDATE

UPDATE - 5/22/09:
Thanks to a fellow blogger who found the article, Texas, Florida Rumbling About Cornyn's NRSC Move , I can update this post with some good news for Marco Rubio.

Looks like Sen. Cornyn is taking some heat from key Texas Republicans for endorsing Gov. Charlie Crist for Senate so far in advance of the primary race. Not only that, but the Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, has rescinded his endorsement of Charlie Crist after getting some heat from Florida conservatives and bloggers.

This is encouraging news. Now if the "Republican Establishment" and the "Grassroots Conservatives" could get on the same page...that would be great news.

ORIGINAL POST:

This is another case for getting the RINOs out of the Republican Party. They just got rid of Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) and already the party is looking to support another mooshy-gooshy moderate-to-liberal (more liberal) for the Senate.

Governor Charlie Crist (R-FL) has announced that he will run for the Senate in 2010.

In Crist's speeches, conservatives will wait in vain to hear any of their principles promoted. What they hear are endless lullabies about "bipartisanship," "diversity," and other warm-sounding, non-sequiturs from the Democratic hymn book. These are just the most actionable of Crist's sins against conservative principles.

And now that Crist has announced his campaign, some RINOs are falling over themselves to endorse him. The Republicans are their own worst enemy.

Less than an hour after Crist threw his hat in the ring last week, Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Republican Senatorial Campaign head John Cornyn of Texas both endorsed him. In Florida, Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer endorsed Crist. These quick endorsements came in spite of the fact that national Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele has said Republicans who've supported the president's stimulus plan shouldn't themselves be supported, and in spite of the fact that there's another very solid Republican candidate in the Florida race. Steele said Sunday that in spite of McConnell's and Cornyn's premature coronation of Crist, the RNC would stay out of the Florida race until after the primary.

I guess McConnell and Cornyn didn't get the memo. Gov. Crist is a big supporter of the stimulus package and hosted Prez BO in a town hall meeting in Fort Myers, FL to promote it.

The most probable explanation for backing Crist is that they think he's a "shoe-in". Maybe so, but he is certainly the "wrong fit" for what the Republican Party needs to turn this country around and off the road to socialism.

Crist's opponent in the primary is the more conservative candidate and former FL House Speaker, Marco Rubio, of Maimi.

The FL Republican Party Chairman, Jim Greer, has endorsed Crist right off the bat. Not good news for Rubio.

According to a FL Senate race poll, Crist is ahead of Rubio. Could it be that most Floridians are not familiar with Rubio? Crist is well known and is beating all potential Democrat opponents in the poll. But I don't think all hope is lost for Rubio...look what happened for Prez BO, another not-so-well-known politician.

Maybe Michael Steele should think again on waiting until after the primary to get the RNC involved in the race. If the RNC stays out of it until after the primary, it may be Crist they have to support, because people who vote in FL may go with the Governor just out of familiarity. Rubio may never get the exposure or have the funding to put up a good fight. He doesn't have much name recognition and unless he gets "some help from his friends", he won't.

Gov. Crist is an Obama-loving liberal RINO and if he gets elected, it'll be like Specter warmed over.

It's time to get rid of the RINOs and prevent any more from infiltrating the Republican party. I don't believe a third party is the answer; it never works (look what happened with Ross Perot). So the Republican party has to get back to basics and stop trying to be Democrat-lite. Give people a choice.

Marco Rubio is the more conservative candidate. Charlie Crist is a moderate-to-liberal RINO.

Floridians...take note. Get smart about your candidates. Choose someone who represents your beliefs, priorities and values. It's time to get good people in leadership positions. Our country is in BIG trouble and there's no time to lose. We can't afford another McCain, Specter, Snowe or Collins.

And for you New Jersey voters...RINO ALERT!

The Governor's race has Republican candidates Steve Lonegan (Reagan conservative) versus Chris Christie (RINO). Gov. Corzine is very unpopular and there's a good chance a Republican will win. Do your homework and learn all you can about the candidates before you make your choice...then make it the "right" one.
