I Feel Less Safe Every Day

What do the five articles below have in common? They all describe actual or possible terrorist threats here in the United States. Five articles, all listed together on one Drudge Report page.

These articles caught my eye because the second to the last story is about the SEPTA subway system in Philadelphia. I grew up in South Philadelphia and traveled that subway system often. My Dad still lives in South Philadelphia. And although this article says there is no proof of a terrorist plot, it still scares the hell out of me.  Subways are a perfect place to have a terrorist attack.  I worry about my son up in NYC.  He rides the subway all of the time.

I feel less safe every day, and this is not because of our CIA, FBI or law enforcement officers. I feel less safe because of President Obama and his administration. It's the fact that the Attorney General, Eric Holder, insists on investigating the CIA and their interrogation tactics on terrorists that upsets me. And the fact that, even after 7 former CIA Directors wrote a letter asking President Obama to stop the investigation, President Obama refuses. Who will want to do that job if they have to fear their own government?

President Obama and the people in his administration have no trouble targeting tea party protesters as "right-wing extremists" and "domestic terrorists". Unfortunately, they find it necessary to change the reference to Islamic terrorism into a watered down "man-caused disasters" that dilutes it's real meaning. They have released terrorists and plan on closing Guantanamo Bay Prison. Some of these terrorists will be brought to the USA. Shouldn't we be worried?

The Islamic terrorists are here in America; some are American citizens. And although four of these incidents have been thwarted, and one is not proven to be an actual terrorist threat (but who the heck takes pictures of a subway station for fun), the fact that we are hearing these stories in increasing numbers is worrisome. I'm sure there are many other stories we don't here about. And I want the investigators of these terrorists to be able do what is necessary to get the information they need to stop an attack.

Thank God for our FBI, CIA and law enforcement officers who are working every day to keep us safe. It is a testament to them and to President Bush that we haven't had a terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11.

I hope President Obama and his administration stop the BS, stop the CIA investigations, and start to make it easier for them to do their jobs. After all, it's the first duty of the Federal Government to keep the country and it's citizens safe.

This is an interesting theory from National Review writer, Andrew C. McCarthy:   Eric Holder's Hidden Agenda.  McCarthy's theory is that the investigation isn’t about torture, but about transnationalism.

Below are the 5 articles on the Drudge Report:

U.S. terror suspects accused of targeting Marine base

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Reuters) - Two men charged in North Carolina last month with plotting terrorist attacks overseas also planned to attack the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, authorities said on Thursday.

The two were among seven suspects arrested in August for conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and for conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people overseas.

A new indictment unveiled on Thursday charged Daniel Patrick Boyd, the group's alleged ringleader, and Hysen Sherifi "with conspiring to murder U.S. military personnel" in connection with the planned assault on the Marine Corps base, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh said in a statement.

  1. In a somewhat related topic, Obama is not at all dealing with the request for more troops in Afghanistan - the "good war" that we were going to invest our efforts in, as recently as March...

This is getting more and more amazing (in a not so good way) on a daily basis.

  2. Hi Sol:
You know, I had Afghanistan, the apology tour, the praise of the UN dictators, etc., in my mind when doing this post. Everything is adding up to a no good.

  3. I am so glad you wrote this post. I have been noticing these stories too. It seems like someone should be raising the alarm. There are just too many of these foiled attacks happening relatively close together.

The last thing we need right now is a CIA that is unwilling or afraid to stick its neck out for fear of reprisals.

I have a very bad feeling about all of this.

  4. Me too. I think we are seeing some real change. It's not good change.

  5. TCL, I don't feel safe, either. Things are degenerating.

  6. Hi Clifton:
I had someone ask me in a comment on a network where I post if I thought it was a coincidence that all of these stories are coming out now because the Patriot Act is up for renewal.
I guess she has a point. But I asked her if she thinks the Patriot Act had anything to do with the busting up of these terrorist plots.
I would like to know if it did because I am torn between whether the Patriot Act is needed or if it's just a way for the government to spy on us. I didn't mind it when Pres. Bush was in office, but I'm not sure about it now that Pres. Obama is in office...he may be looking for anything "fishy", if you know what I mean.

Hopefully, the fear we feel will make us all angry. These terrorists want to kill us all. I say we get them first.

  8. How many terrorist leaders and evil dictators endorsed Obama?

    How many endorsed John McCain?

The 2008 elections went well for terrorists.

As a New Yorker, I must say that I agree with you...

  11. Lets just be honest about the ultimate safety issue of the United States with a plausible chain of events.
    1) Iran or N.Korea make a nuke, a real nuke.
    2) it somehow gets out of their hands, on purpose or through error, and into the hands of terrorists.
    3) they sneak it into our country and detonate it in a major city.
    4) The US is in chaos.
    5) The cockroaches of the world begin to scramble, war errupts everywhere because everyone know's that Mom and Dad (us) aren't watching. Perhaps we even get nuked by Russia, figuring we're too destabilized to stop them.

    Liberals suck at being around.

I guess the light at the end of the tunnel will be in the voting booth in 2010. If we can flip the House, Joe Biden said Obama's plans get stopped. We have to worry about what happens between now and then.

  13. Candle:
Your chain of events is very possible and as long as Obama sticks with his nice-guy diplomatic shtick when it comes to Iran and N.K., I fear it is more probable than not. His idea of getting rid of our nukes is ludicrous. I guess he never heard of "peace through strength". God Help Us.

Those dirt bag dictators at the UN love Obama. That should tell us something.

I know New Yorkers must always have 9/11 in the back of their minds. As I said, my son lives in NYC and I worry all of the time.
As we saw in the attacks that were thwarted, this can happen anywhere in the U.S., so we must all be on alert.
    Thanks for stopping by.
