Meet The Other Nominees

I was wondering who else had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize that Prez BO won. I found my answer at the LCR Blog.  I've added the photos, videos and links so that you can put a face to the name and learn a little more about these worthy nominees.

Who Did Obama Beat to Win His Nobel Prize?

Sima Samar, women’s rights activist in Afghanistan: “With dogged persistence and at great personal risk, she kept her schools and clinics open in Afghanistan even during the most repressive days of the Taliban regime, whose laws prohibited the education of girls past the age of eight. When the Taliban fell, Samar returned to Kabul and accepted the post of Minister for Women’s Affairs.”

Ingrid Betancourt: French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years.

Denis Mukwege: Doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has dedicated his life to helping Congolese women and girls who are victims of gang rape and brutal sexual violence.

Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition: “These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon.”

Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government, who was sentenced last year to a three-and-a-half-year prison term for ‘inciting subversion of state power.’

Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China’s communist system. He now lives in the United States.

  1. All these candidates are so, so much more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than Obama. These people put their lives on the line for peace.

  2. Obama must be proud (that comes easy to him) for beating out these great nominees. Lets see his accomplishments;

Barack Hussein Obama. Got elected twice. Raised a lot of money using the internet. Voted "present" more often than any Senator in history. Looks toward heaven during his speeches more often than any politician in history. Sheds scandals like a duck sheds water.

True, but Obama is the "savior of the world", so he gets the prize.

  4. Well, it is clear (even to me) that these people were much more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than Obama.

I just wonder, though, am I the only one who thinks (or believes) that maybe this was a 'set up'?

I just wonder (if it WAS a set up) how much of our tax dollars was needed for him to BUY this award.

Just a theory. I could be wrong, even though the man did absolutely NOTHING to earn it. So, having said that, how much did he PAY for it?

Hmmmmm...it is something to think about.

I think he looks at the teleprompter more often than heaven, otherwise everything else you listed I agree 100%.

I don't know if it was fixed, but he was nominated within 11 days of his inauguration. Why I think he was given the award is a little less conspiratorial than your theory.
I think (and have also heard speculated about) that they gave him the award to encourage him to continue his policies to take America down the road to Marxism. They like the idea that he is turning America into a third world country. These people don't like the fact that America is a great country; exceptional if I may say so. Obama doesn't think that way. He hates everything about America and that is why he is planning to "fundamentally change" it. So, the Nobel committee gives him the award with the HOPE that he will not disappoint them. My other fear is that they are trying to manipulate him into giving up in Afghanistan. You know, Peace award...keep the peace.

  7. Yes and those other people have already done things. Their time has passed. Barack Obama got the award because of his intentions - and maybe because he actually said them out loud. That takes a lot of guts!

    S'cuse me while I vomit.

  8. This goes to show the farce that the award has become. I think I might nominate my cat for next year.

This does show the liberal mindset. All the other candidates have actual accomplishments that can be measured and observed. Obama has only ideas. Now, we all know that those ideas are destructive, and, particularly in foreign relations, will likely make the world far more dangerous. However, the intent of those ideas are preferred by the left. So, the intended utopia of the left is more preferable to the reality of the world.

  9. Oh yeah absolutely. Considering the fact that he hates America just as much as Reverend Wright, if he does give up in Afghanistan, I can pretty much guarantee you that we're toast.

    Unless the military commits 'mutiny'.

    Hmmmmm....now THERE'S an idea!
    :>

The others were deserving of the award. Now that Obama has received it for doing nothing, the others can be grateful that they aren't associated with an award that honors a person for "intent" over "accomplishment".

  11. Matt:
Exactly why he got the award. He is the mirror image of them.

  12. UCOA:
That is an idea. If he keeps up the indecision on Afghanistan, I can see some of the military leaders making a fuss. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

  13. Even though I'm not liberal and I really don't mean it in the same way, I've always wanted to say this..

    But it's all Bush's fault!!!!

  14. In case you are wondering if they are going to add Obama to Mount Rushmore?
I heard that they have already started on the Ears.

  15. And don't forget WaPo's nomination (WAPO, MIND YOU!): Neda.

  16. Prof:
That's a good one. Actually, I won't be surprised if they decide to do that someday.

  17. Dr. Dave:
I hadn't seen that WaPo article, but I did read a post on Black and Right Blog recommending Neda to receive the Nobel Peace Prize posthumously . Wouldn't that have made a REAL statement for peace?

  18. This award isn't a big deal at all. Vanilla Ice was going to win it in the early 90s, but his hair caused three wars. So, popularity alone wasn't enough.

Ice, Ice Baby is a greater accomplishment than ANYTHING Obama has done thus far.

After Alby won for selective, ironically frozen-in-time science, I think most of the free-thinking world knew the award was a hoax.

    Deserve never deserved anything.

  19. Hi Josh,
    Glad to hear from you.
The award is a farce given by libs to libs.

  20. Yes. Like Oscar Awards.

Penn was a shoo-in for I Am Sam II (aka Milk) before anyone ever seen it.

They always manage to pat each other on the back.

I'd like to be able to put my finger on the exact moment it become "cool" to be a bass ackwards libtard. They manage to suck many people in.

My theory is still that it's about money. Only the piss poor (and sometimes overtly lazy) and the uber-rich seem to subscribe to this garbage. The hard working men and women of the world seem to be, by and large, apolitical or at least NON-liberal (which makes you a conservative in America).

  21. Just shows how left leaning the Noble people are. Much like when Gore won. They are out to make political statements at any cost.

  22. Josh:
I think the Hollyweirdos and some uber-rich are liberal because they feel guilty they have a lot of money. It eases their consciences to be liberal and back socialism. Of course, they are being "liberal" with everybody else's money, but hey, so what...at least they feel better about themselves.

  23. Walt:
The award is given by liberals to liberals. Besides not being George W, Obama holds the same beliefs as the Nobel committee. Hates America's exceptionalism and wants to make it just another European country. Obama will surely comply and continue down his destructive road.

Thanks for sending the video link. I saw a little of it somewhere, but not the entire thing.
