Why Is Washington Talking About a Government Shutdown?
Is it that time again already??
It’s not even August, and Members of Congress are starting to buzz about the upcoming budget and debt ceiling fight—which likely won’t happen until later this fall. But the posturing has begun, and the media are happy to oblige.
The thing is, a government shutdown isn’t necessary—and lawmakers aren’t proposing a government shutdown.
What some are proposing is that Congress fund normal government activities, but refuse to fund Obamacare. The upcoming budget legislation, called a continuing resolution, is a decision point for Obamacare funding.
“Under no circumstances will I vote for a continuing resolution that funds even one single penny of Obamacare,” says Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). He and fellow Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), and Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Rand Paul (R-KY) are urging their colleagues to do the same.

  1. Lip service until proven otherwise. Just trying to zero in on the problem TCL, so that a solution can be found.

    1. Can't blame people for being skeptical. We've been disappointed in our leaders way to many times.

    2. I am extremely discouraged. They must defund Obamacare otherwise tons of specialist physicians will be retiring, costs will skyrocket, and our nation will accelerate in terms of heading toward collapse. This is last chance time.

    1. Agreed. The House has voted 40 times to repeal ObamaCare. Now is the time to put their money where their mouth is and do something "real"...not just a symbolic vote that they know is going nowhere.

    1. Hi Angel. I'm doing well, thank you. This summer has proven to be a busy one for us, so blogging has taken a back seat. Hope you're doing well.

  4. I think that Obamacare will never happen... even Obama's delaying its implementation. It's a clusterfuck of epic proportions.
Just a crapload of more stupid BS, for the Constitution haters, the Factchecker, the Snopers, and everyone else who is a progressive brainwashed idiot, like Ema here, Liberalmann, Jersey, and Shaw..

All these Obama's followers will follow him right into hell.
And when they get there, they will blame the heat on Global Warming caused by Bush and the Republicans.

  5. The federal budget cycle runs from 1 OCT through 30 SEP; Congress should have been done with the budget by now so they can vote on it next month. There has been no federal budget passed in the last three years, they just throw money to keep things from shutting down. This is no way to run a country --- but what else is new?
