Air Force Academy Accused of Religious Intolerance - They Choose To Back Away From Charity

I heard this story on Rush's show today:

Via:  RadioFoxNews:

Air Force Academy Backs Away from Christmas Charity

The Air Force Academy apologized Thursday night after it was accused of religious intolerance for promoting Operation Christmas Child – a program designed to send holiday gifts to impoverished children around the world.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation said military commanders crossed the line when they promoted the gift program, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, an organization run by Franklin Graham.
Operation Christmas Child said they expect to send more than 8 million shoe box gifts to underprivileged children in 100 countries. Around 60,000 churches and 60,000 community groups in the United States are participating.
MikeyWeinstein, of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said an evangelical Christian message is also included in the boxes.
“This is a proselytizing entity of Franklin Graham,” said the group’s president, Mikey Weinstein. He filed a complaint on behalf of 132 Academy personnel including two sets of Muslim-American parents.
The attack on Operation Christmas Child has generated outrage across the country.

Bottom line is that they want the charity to be run through the Academy's Chaplains and not the entire Academy.

Just thought you'd like to see what the "Military Religious Freedom Foundation" posts as what the organization is all "About":

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that all members of the United States Armed Forces fully receive the Constitutional guarantee of religious freedom to which they and all Americans are entitled by virtue of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
Over 25,000 active duty members of the United States Armed Forces have come to our foundation as spiritual rape victims/tormentees. 96% of them are Christians themselves.

  1. The church I attended last year participated in this and I thought it was a very fine program christian or not. It just makes a kid happy sometimes for the first time all year. Things have gotten so politically correct that I can't stand it.

  2. Until Christians start suing in retaliation, and refusing to help any politically correct replacement that may (or may not) be offered, these things will continue.

  3. Mamma Bear:
Somehow the true meaning of the program and the generosity towards disadvantaged children got lost in this.

  4. Gorges:
That's the problem, everybody is so afraid to buck the system that they wind up giving in. Political correctness will be the destruction of us.

  5. How utterly disgusting. We all know who is behind this!
The same jerk who wishes his comrads a happy haj holiday, or whatever the ass lifters call it.

He doesn't speak for all American's at all!
He should shut up and quit picking on Christians.

  6. Bunni:
Wonder when Christians will start to fight back.

  7. This Christianophobia needs to stop. Christians need to fight back against this intolerance. It is sad that such a worthy cause has fallen prey to political correctness.
