UPDATE 9/19: Tell Me I'm Crazy...PLEASE - Libs Vow Primary Challenge to Obama

Is President Obama being set up for a one term?

Do you think it's a coincidence that a rumor about President Obama being depressed, which was brought up a year ago...

...is now being brought up again?
And why is a member of the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board rationalizing Obama quitting after his first term?

Why Obama should withdraw (by Steve Chapman on September 18, 2011)

An article at HotAir.com speculates a one term Obama and who would be ready to step up to the plate as the Democrat nominee.  This is something TCL has pondered on more than one occasion.

The lower Obama's ratings go, the more desperate the Democrats may become.  For all we know, this could have been the plan all along.  One term for Obama, and then when Americans become dis-infatuated with him and his "fundamental changes", Obama passes the baton to Hillary.  She comes in to pick up the second term and finish the job.  If Obama "decides" to not run due to his own personal reasons, it won't look like those "racist" Democrats are running him out of office.

Hillary has foreign policy experience as Secretary of State and can't be blamed for any of Obama's economic policies.  Plus there are her many minions who felt robbed when Obama won the nomination in 2008.

This scenario will probably never happen, but I just can't totally disregard it.

Tell me I'm crazy...PLEASE.

UPDATE 9/19:

Granted, what you are about to read is just about "primary challengers" who will put pressure on President Obama to remain true to his left base.  But, it's an opening.  Of course, Ralph Nader has been known to throw his hat in the ring just to make things interesting.

Washington Times Article - Liberals vow to challenge Obama in Democratic primaries

President Obama’s smooth path to the Democratic nomination may have gotten rockier Monday, after a group of liberal leaders, including former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, announced plans to challenge the incumbent in primaries next year.
The group said the goal is to offer up a handful of candidates from various fields and areas where the president either has failed to stake out a “progressive” position or where he has “drifted toward the corporatist right.”  Read more...

  1. It is very late in the game for anyone considering a run for the presidency not to have a ground game in place. I don't see how a primary challenge at this point is possible. If this were the plan he would have to announce it very soon.

I also don't think that Hillary and Obama are all that close. She took that job for her own reasons, I can't imagine she did because she likes the guy.

Maybe not as a primary challenger. Remember, he said he wouldn't mind being a one term president.
I think Hillary took that job to get foreign policy experience...just in case Obummer bummed out.
This is all speculation on my part, but I just have this funny feeling about the whole thing. I hope it's just indigestion ;)

  3. One round of "Mr. Clinton" in the White House is enough. Incidentally, wouldn't the phrase "First Gentleman Bill Clinton" be an oxymoron?

  4. You're NOT crazy, TCL, I've been thinking the same thing. WHY all of a sudden NOW, the last few weeks, have the msm been leaking their displeasure with the creep. And, that Chapman editorial, I almost fell out of my chair when I read that! Chgo trib isn't as conservative as people might think.

Now, bubba is making the rounds on the talk shows, don't forget people know if Hillary is prez, they get him too. BUT, that can't be allowed to happen, because she's a dem and endorses all the same crap policies.

Well have to see, it is strange times indeed.

  5. Hi Bunni:
Obama deciding not to run...I guess this is something the GOP is going to have to keep in the back of their minds so they're not surprised. Of course, the Dems could be using the criticisms as a distraction, who knows??? Am I starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist?
Thanks for letting me know that I have company in thinking outside the box on this issue.

My speculation is that barry is realizing how awful he is at this job and it he is genuinely discouraged. So, he has carefully floate the idea of clinical depression so that he can still say it "wasn't his fault" that he stank so bad. Then quit after one term and make money writing books and appearing at lectures.

Then again, maybe the powers that be want a RINO next time around, so the Democrats won't get the entire blame for throwing America under the bus.

Girl, you so ca-razy!! Hillary isn't going to run, in my opinion. Sure she has foreign policy experience, but she's still got no campaign other than a rehash of her 08 one. That is: "I put up with a philanderer in the White House for eight years. You owe me.*

The Dems have tried to put policies into effect that can't be reversed or will take untold effort do reverse, that maybe they don't fear a GOP president next time around. Good point Sir.

  12. Hi ArthurRex12:
Welcome to TCL. You may be right, but I don't think her supporters will care. They didn't care in 2008, what difference will it make now? Of course she can throw into the mix how great the economy was during Bill's presidency and that she can do it now if she were elected. The people who vote for the Lefty Dems don't really understand how they are being taken advantage of...they are sheeple. I also think that her supporters think she was "robbed" of the nomination...so she is "owed".
    Hope you come back again.
