Constitution Day is a Federally designated holiday that commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or, by naturalization, have become citizens.
(TCL Note: It doesn't say..."recognize those who come into the country illegally and decide they are entitled to everything America has to offer".)
When Constitution Day falls on a weekend or on another holiday, schools and other institutions observe the holiday on an adjacent weekday. This year we celebrate today, Friday September 16, 2011.

At a time in our history when the leaders of our country have practically shredded The United States Constitution in an effort to "Fundamentally Transform the United States of America", it is We The People's responsibility to take action. We must familiarize ourselves with our Founding Documents and resolve to hold our leaders accountable for adhereing to their principles. If they refuse, We must refuse to allow these leaders to remain in office by utilizing our right to vote under the Fifteenth Amendment to The Constitution.

I was at the Hillsdale Constitution Day yesterday. It was a great day. They also had Bush's former AG there, Michael Mukasey, he did a speech on National Security which was very informative.

Hi Conservative Lady! I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've never heard of Constitution Day. You'd think our illustrious leaders would make more of a fuss about it. *ss* Anyway, thanks for blogging about it. I'll be ready for it next year!

ReplyDeleteDon't be too embarrassed. Our "illustrious leaders" don't even recognize The Constitution as legitimate, so don't be surprised they don't celebrate Constitution Day. Believe it or not, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) is responsible for it. He attached it as an amendment to the 2004 Omnibus Spending Bill.
