Are The Lame-Duck Dems Planning a Departure Strategy?

The November 2010 elections may bring changes in Congress that will  make us very happy, but don't get too comfortable yet.  The lame-duck Democrats will still be in office until the end of the year, and that's plenty of time to wreak more havoc.  Many of the Obama agenda items that haven't been forced on us yet, are still hanging out there, and the lame-duck Dems don't have anything to lose.  It's the perfect time for the three amigos, Obama/Pelosi/Reid, to push through these items that have been sitting on the back burner.  Desperate people will do desperate things, and if they think it's their last chance to get their progressive agenda passed, they'll do whatever it takes to get the dirty deed done.

Don't be surprised if things like card check, cap and trade and a host of other distasteful, progressive agenda items resurface after November 2nd.  The crew on Capitol Hell don't give a damn what Americans think about these things, they will treat them like ObamaCare and shove them right down our throats.

Here's what John Fund has to say on the subject:

John Fund discusses the Democratic agenda for the lame duck Congress, including cap and trade, card-check, and pork.

The Obama-Pelosi Lame Duck Strategy

By JOHN FUND

Democratic House members are so worried about the fall elections they're leaving Washington on July 30, a full week earlier than normal—and they won't return until mid-September. Members gulped when National Journal's Charlie Cook, the Beltway's leading political handicapper, predicted last month "the House is gone," meaning a GOP takeover. He thinks Democrats will hold the Senate, but with a significantly reduced majority.
The rush to recess gives Democrats little time to pass any major laws. That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation.

  1. There is something awfully wrong about the idea of jamming bad legislation through during the lame duck session. They will not be "representatives".

  2. Get ready for a lot of executive orders after November.

  3. It won't suprise me, but they still need republican cooperation in the senate. So it is important to keep Brown, Collins, and Snowe in check for those two months.

btw - here is the link about the info I told you about.

They haven't been "representatives" for a long time now...can you say "ObamaCare"?

  5. Trestin:
Oh yes, like that one Obama signed about abortion just to get those extra votes for ObamaCare from Bart Stupak and his group.

The problem is trusting Snowe, Collins and Brown...RINOs one and all.
    Thanks for the link.

  7. Tom Price hit the nail on the head. John Fund did an excellent analysis of the political outlook fro the Fall. These Democratic representatives are more like "little dictators" or the "gestapo" carrying out their orders from the top than representatives of the people.

  8. Hi Teresa:
They sure are and I don't trust them at all to do the right thing this fall when they are called on to do their job.

  9. I believe Obama and Pelosi will push like never before, because they have to know their majority is in danger, and I agree with Trestin, the executive orders will fly.

They have us by the "you know what", no matter what.
