UPDATE: Time To Get The Heck Out of the Way - **UPDATED** - Obama Accused of Criminal Negligence

According to HotAir.com:

The A-Whale bills itself as the largest open-water oil skimmer in the world, and it’s at least very impressive.  Originally an oil and ore tanker, the ship’s owners recently refitted the ship to do exactly the kind of work that the US so desperately needs in the Gulf of Mexico, and to do it on a vastly larger scale than current operations can handle.  According to the ship’s project manager, the entire American effort in 66 days has skimmed off 600,000 barrels of oil.  The ship’s owners claim that A-Whale can skim 500,000 barrels a day.
So where is the A-Whale now?  In the Gulf?  Not yet.  It’s on its way there after being tied to a dock in Norfolk, Virginia, and won’t be allowed to join the cleanup effort until the Coast Guard and the EPA figure out whether it meets their standards (h/t Deb Singer on Twitter).

Don't you think it's time the Coast Guard and the EPA get out of the way and do something productive, like stop the oil from reaching the mainland?

I don't want to believe that the EPA is purposely making it hard for the cleanup to be done, but every day the oil settles on a beach, the better the scenario is for Obama to push his off-shore drilling moratorium.

UPDATE 2:19 PM:
Gateway Pundit calls Obama's response to the oil spill "criminal negligence", and I have to say...I Agree.

It’s Day 69 of the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster–
There is now clear evidence that the negligence by the Obama Administration caused the destruction of the Gulf coastline.
** The feds only accepted assistance from 5 of 28 countries.
** It took the Obama Administration 53 days to accept help from the Dutch and British.
** It took them 58 days to mobilize the US military to the Gulf.
** The feds shut down crude-sucking barges due to fire extinguisher concerns.
** The Obama Administration ignore oil boom manufacturers that have miles of product stockpiled in their warehouses.
** They only have moved 31 of 2,000 oil skimmers to the disaster area off of Florida.
** Florida hired an additional 5 skimmer boats to operate off its coast due to federal inaction.
** There are no skimmer boats off the coast of Mississippi.
** The feds shut down sand berm dredging off the Louisiana coast.
** The president continues to hit the golf course, ball games, hold BBQ’s and party while the crude oil washes up on shore.

  1. If the DIPSTICK-N-CHIEF will wave the Jones Act (too bad unions) we could actually start cleaning this mess up...

    This jerk must go...

  2. I've heard this likened to a fire engine being pulled over on the way to a fire for having a broken tail light.

The only conclusion I can draw is that BO and his cronies WANT this to be as bad as possible. It's disgusting.

  3. American:
If action was taken from the beginning of the spill, there would have been much less (if any) oil reaching shore. We know where is allegiance is (unions) and the environmentalist-wackos. Have we heard any environmentalist-wackos blaming Obama for not taking quicker action in cleaning up the mess? I haven't. They know, by letting it get worse, there is more chance of more people getting po'd at the oil companies, thus their agenda is promoted.
    This whole thing is sickening.

    Good analogy.
I think your conclusion is correct.

Unfortunately, that is true. The state-controlled media and the environmentalists have already given him a pass. He's their meal ticket to get their cap & tax agenda through, so it's no help in getting him ticked off.

  7. Hi TCL! This is CRIMINAL, not to mention treason.
Obama should be impeached and tried as an enemy combatant of America.

PS: I'm glad you're on arcayne now, and I recommended you too ;-)

  8. Hi Bunni:
    What should happen, won't unfortunately.
Thanks for recommending me on arcyane. I saw it over at Matt's blog and thought I'd try it out.

  9. Had the administration called together the best minds in the industry (and I don't mean academia), and had they been working on behalf of BP and the US, and perhaps even Europe, (from what I'm reading, the oil could possible get there), and we felt everything was being done, I could give Obama somewhat of a pass.

He hasn't done anything but appoint another Czar - who knows nothing.

Now the A-Whale has to await EPA approval. Even an idiot would tell the Whale to get after it. Sigh.

Great story, TCL. Also wanted to say it is great to see you at Arkayne. I hope our numbers grow. I love looking at my page and seeing my friends automatically linked.

  10. Hi Maggie:
If it was President Bush...well you know the rest. Obama is like Teflon...everything slides off.
I had never heard about arkayne until I saw it at Matt's blog. Looked like a good way to "spread the word around".
    Thanks for recommending my blog.

You know and I know it...now if the state-controlled media would ever face facts and tell the truth, everybody would know it.

  12. The statement of, "criminal negligence" is becoming more and more apparent.

Thanks for recommending me TCL. I'll return the favor.

  13. I don't think that the barack hussein obama regime wants to rush into anything...

However, if the people on the Gulf swore to vote Democrat now and forever more, you might see some movement.

  14. That is a very useful roundup of Obamas innaction, thank you.

We don't hear much of FEMA, why is that?

  16. Hi banned:
Good question. I haven't heard anything about FEMA either, so I tried to find out some info. The article I found states:
Americans are asking, “Where’s FEMA? Why aren’t they involved with the Gulf Oil Spill”. The answer is as sad as it is strange.
Oddly enough, there’s been no formal request from any of the Gulf State Governors to declare the BP Oil Spill a “Federal Disaster Area”. Instead, there have been numerous requests for aid that would normally follow the formal declaration of a disaster, but without the official declaration.

    http://conservativedailynews.com/2010/06/femas-missing-but-not-why-you-may-think/
So, unless the Governors declare a "federal disaster area", I guess FEMA isn't called in.

  18. I was a bit confused about why BP might be colluding in Obamas innaction and censoring of the beach clean up 'efforts'.
Alex Jones offers something of an answer.

This came from an article I posted several days ago referring to BP having an interest in carbon pricing:

The irony here is that BP has been a special interest pushing for carbon pricing on Capitol Hill for years now. It was a founding member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, a corporatist entity that exists to enact “fair climate change.” And of course by “fair” they mean whatever subsidies and mandates they can extract from the federal government to best protect their bottom line. So this February, BP actually pulled out of USCAP because they thought: “We can be more effective if we show up in the discussion as BP.” As The Washington Examiner’s Tim Carney reports: “They made out particularly well in the House’s climate bill, while natural gas producers suffered.”

Sounds like they play nice with Obama, and he'll play nice with them.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

I checked out the link and it makes sense. There has to be a reason for the delay in clean up of the spill. Also, why aren't the environmentalist-wackos making a fuss? The spill was a godsend to them all and now they are taking advantage of the crisis.
