Paul Ryan Is Not Giving Up On ObamaCare

Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI) is a ranking minority member of the House Budget Committee.   Watching Rep. over the past months fighting against ObamaCare has encouraged me  as to the future of the GOP.  Seeing his strong (facts and figures) arguments against the bill, hearing him speak and seeing his commitment to stopping it, gave me hope that we just might win.  His speech on the House floor Sunday night was inspiring and heartfelt.  Although the Democrat machine pulled it off in the end,  I believe Rep. Ryan, put up a good fight.  We can only hope that more candidates like him will surface and win elections in the future.

I came across an interview with Rep. Ryan in National Review Online that I want to share with you.  It was done after the health care vote.  In the interview, Rep. Ryan makes it known that he believes the fight is not yet over.

“Our offense will be hammering them for wrecking the health-care system, their demonization of the insurance companies, and their push for government control. That is the future fight,” Ryan predicts. “They’ve got a president here until 2013 and the votes in the Senate to support this for a few years, but it’s not over. As we work to repeal, we must recognize that we’re fighting a different and distorted progressivism. They want to hook people up to entitlements and delegate more power to unelected bureaucrats and technocrats to micromanage the economy — a government full of Peter Orzags. Yet their fatal conceit is also a rational gamble to establish a new culture of dependency.”

And when asked, "...In an Obamacare world, what is the GOP’s message?"

He replied,...“We need to become the party of liberty and freedom,” Ryan argues. “We’re not doing enough. We can do better, and we will — because we have no choice. If we’re going to offer the country a completely different vision, we can’t be Democratic-lite or resign ourselves to be slightly more efficient managers and tax-collectors for the welfare state. We have to break with that and give people a clear and distinct difference.”

I hope Rep. Ryan sticks to his guns and keeps the momentum going to repeal ObamaCare.  (I hope all of the Republicans who are going to campaign on repealing it, mean what they say and do their damnest to get it done if it's at all possible.)

I agree with Rep. Ryan wholeheartedly that the GOP must give a clear and distinct alternative to the Democrat/Progressive/Marxist Party.  It's the only way to beat them.

I want to thank Paul Ryan for his hard work in trying to defeat ObamaCare.  He is a great asset to the GOP and is on his way to becoming one of our important leaders in the future.

  1. Paul Ryan truly is a rising star in the GOP and makes it abundantly clear that the Linsey Grahams of the party absolutely must be flushed along with the democrats...

  2. Adversity brings the best out in mature individuals such as Paul Ryan. What I see happening with certain -- a small select group of -- Republicans is encouraging to me. Have you noticed that the scrappy Republican fighters are not the ones that have been hogging the spotlight for years (the ones with names like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, John Cornyn, Mike McConnell, and Erik Cantor?

Our Republican fighters, our formerly-unsung heroes, have names like Paul Ryan and Tom Coburn and Jim DeMint and Michelle Bachmann. And, fortunately, there are a few more like them. Through adversity, genuine conservative leaders are emerging.

I believe the grassroots tea party movement offered a rare opportunity for little-known conservative Republicans to step into and fill the vacuum of leadership. Good for us and good for them! God bless us and God bless them!

RINOs like Lindsey Graham need to go. Unfortunately, Graham has about 5 years left before his next election.

  8. Hi Newsentinel:
It is encouraging to see leaders like those you mentioned in the GOP. We need to elect more.
As for the RINOs, it seems that Lindsey Graham is on the Sunday talk shows every week. He really needs to go. He has his hands in everything and is working right along with the Dems on Amnesty, Cap & Tax and GITMO.
I think Eric Cantor has been pretty outspoken re: healthcare. I also like DeMint, Coburn & Bachmann.
Hopefully the November election will add some good people to Congress. The grassroot movement has been a blessing.

  10. I have heard from a pretty reliable source that he will not make a run in 12 as he feels his kids are too young.

Gotta love him though. He is the face of the future for the GOP, and that is something that we can hold unto as hope for the future. The cream always rises.
