Valentine's Day at the Races

I've been to the Daytona 500 race every year (except 1) since 1987.  This year is no exception.

The 2010 Daytona 500 is on Sunday, February 14, 2010.

Back to posting next week.

  1. Enjoy, TCL. February is one of the greatest months to be in Florida. See you when you get back.

  2. I hope you have fun and a wonderful time at Daytona! What a cool tradition.

Do you have a particular favorite driver?

  3. You know I'm so jealous...

Enjoy, and pull for the #48 for me!! lol!!

  4. Snarky:
Thanks for the good wishes. Every year we meet up with friends from around the country and we have a wonderful time.

  5. Hi Teresa:
In years past, my favorite driver was Dale Earnhart, Sr. who was killed at Daytona in 2001 right before our eyes. Now my favorite driver is Tony Stewart #14...with Ryan Newman #39 as a close second. They are team mates, so it's easy to root for them.

  6. Hi Sol:
Well, you know I'm gonna be rooting for Tony and Ryan, but if they have problems, I'll think of you and root for Jimmy.
Thanks for the good wishes. Look for me in the stands...I'll be the one waving to you, ha, ha.

  7. How fun!! I have always wanted to go to Daytona. I have been to Taladega twice, but have never made to big one.

  8. Enjoy yourself at the romantic races, TCL!
I hope you have the best time ever.

  9. Just ask this Knuckle head !

  10. I hope your weekend is awesome. Thinking of you.

  11. TCL:
I am going to meet Marco Rubio on Thursday..........If I get any good pictures I am send them your way.

  12. jacg:
If you like Talladega, you will like Daytona. We go to the NASCAR races at Talladega every April.

  13. Hi Bunni:
Thanks for the good wishes. We got home yesterday after a fun time at the races. But wait until you read my next post which I will be publishing within a day or so. The races were just part of the fun!

  14. Guy From Brooklyn:
I checked out that link you provided. I've been off-line for almost a week and it's the first time I've seen this.
As a Tea Party protest participant, I find this very troubling and mis-representative of the people I've met and seen at the Tea Party events I've attended. I found this post about Mr. Robertson from April that you may find interesting. http://houstontps.org/?p=318 I found this article disturbing, too.
There will always be bad apples in the barrel and Mr. Robertson is definitely rotten to the core if that sign he is carrying is legit and not a photoshop deal. The Left will use this against the Tea Party movement, which is expected, so the movement must denounce Mr. Robertson.

  15. Hi Opie:
We had a great time, but an unexpected event made our trip extra special. Check back for my next post.

  16. jacg:
Thanks, I look forward to seeing them. I was really disappointed that on the day we left for our trip to Daytona, Marco Rubio was holding an event right over the bridge from us in Fort Myers and I couldn't go.

  17. Hi Carol:

The fun did begin...although it was a bit nippy in Daytona. I had a great time and a very big, unexpected opportunity while I was there. I'll be posting about it soon.
