Silence To Promote Free Speech?

Graphic by: luckymud3231

Today has been designated National Day of Blogger Silence called by blogger Ace of Spades.  This is in defense of our First Amendment Right to free speech.  Sounds a bit contradictory to make it a day of silence, but there is a method to the madness.

Go to Michelle Malkin's site for a comprehensive explanation, but in short the day is in response to on-line thugs who target bloggers who speak the truth.  Some pretty nasty things have been done in retribution to people who have used their First Amendment Right to speak out and expose something they think is wrong.  We must not be intimidated and fearful to exercise our right to speak the truth.

According to Michelle, "...this is a day of action, not inaction".  U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) is tackling this issue, and today we are being encouraged to take action and contact other leaders in DC to ask them to get involved.  Michelle has included a list of people at the end of her post who you can contact, including their contact information.

Michelle says:
As former Justice Department official Christian Adams points out, it is a federal violation of 18 U.S.C. §241 to conspire to deprive someone of his “free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States.”Members of Congress swore an oath to uphold the Constitution — all of it. Who means it?
Go Michelle Malkin for all the information.  Hot Air has also posted on this.

    1. Does sound contradictory, doesn't it. I posted today about not posting today, ha, ha, ha. Anyway, I hope the leaders in DC get the message.

  2. I posted already before I realized....

Either way, we should be alerting our representatives to what is going on.

  3. Silence in defense of free speech doesn't make sense. Seems contradictory to me. People usually wake up to outrage, not silence. It is a great idea to contact our representatives.
