Teach Your Children Well

In his book, Liberty and Tyranny, Mark Levin says we parents must teach our children about conservatism.  With the liberal indoctrination our kids get in school and the overall liberal slant on TV, in pop culture and of the media in general, it's up to us to instill conservative principles and values into their lives...who else will do it?

For you with young children, there is another tool at your disposal.  One of The Conservative Lady's Facebook members and her husband have authored a book entitled, Teach A Donkey To Fish.  Andrea and Scott Smith are a young, conservative couple who decided that when they couldn't find a story book for their 2 children that exemplified conservatism, they decided to write one.  As they say on their website, "Why would we not make every effort to teach our children self-responsibility, fiscal responsibility, capitalism, and all the other components of conservatism?".

Andrea was featured on local news channel WYFF-4 where she explains how the book came about.

Goppy the Elephant is the conservative, lead character in the book.  He has a liberal friend named, Libby (yes, she's a donkey).  You can learn more about the book and read some pages at the website  Goppy.com .

There are plans to add books to the series featuring Goppy that will help you teach your children conservative principles.

Our son is 26 years old.  We tried to instill conservative values and principles into his life and we did a pretty good job.  This book would have been a fun way to get the message across.  I hope you'll check out Teach A Donkey To Fish. It may be a nice Christmas gift for a special little someone in your life.

  1. The way that UK is headed teaching your child about conservatism would probably be called "child abuse" leading to their state sponsored kidnap by Social Services and you going to jail.

That delightful looking book would not be 'inappropriate' here where even
    Thomas the Tank Engine
has been attacked by a Canadian academic for its "conservative political ideology" and failure to adequately represent women.
She also highlighted the class divide which sees the downtrodden workers in the form of Thomas and his friends at the bottom of the social ladder and the wealthy Fat Controller, Sir Topham Hatt, at the top."

    Give me strength !

  2. Shauna Wilton is a kook. I'm glad she's not my mother. Nothing like a professor of political science to put a damper on a kid's fun.

I enjoyed the comments at the end and I learned two new words...

"tosh" as in...what a lot of

"twaddle" as in...what a load of

Both describe Ms. Wilton's analysis to a tee.

  3. Should read " delightful looking book would be 'inappropriate'"

Yes, tosh and twaddle are the preserve of the English middle class when at their most irate.

  4. I went to school in the 80s and 90s, and the way I was "taught" was wholly different from how I learned at home.

There's no use in going into all of the details about how children were treated differently based on skin color or how one religion would get you suspended but the other was given free reign. I think we all know how it's been for a long time and what it's turning into.

But to keep it short, I walked away from school thinking America was the worst thing in world history, so I can only imagine how it is today and what grade schools and colleges are teaching kids.

My family wasn't very political at all, but both my mother and father were very conservative in their living and they passed this on to us.

Personal responsibility, working hard to get ahead, letting others go their own way, helping out others if you have the means, freedom of choice, the importance of keeping your nose clean, the fact that NOBODY's to blame or to congratulate for your life but you, etc -- a pretty basic upbrining, I would think.

After school I was extremely confused and it took me a while to get back to my roots.

I wasn't taught at home how to accept transgender people in grade school or how to better placate homosexuals by the time I got to middle school or that minorities needed "special" attention. Hmm, I turned out okay. I'm not a gay-basher or a bigot.

I also wasn't taught at home that contact sports are the devil and if I have 2 apples someone "in charge" should take them and give them to children without any. Well, I'm neither violent or greedy.

I do just fine without buying into the social brainwashing. And so will my children. They will never go to be indoctrinated by the establishment. That's not knowledge; it's molding the next generation of social engineers by teaching them that they're really not as important as anyone above or below them in the status line-up.

I want my children to be strong-minded individuals, not worker bees on a mission to do the progressive bidding.

  5. This is really great. One problem conservatives have is we do not think long term when it comes to spreading the message. Liberals have been indoctrinating children for decades, we are seeing the results in every aspect of out decaying society. While the 2010 election is important, we also need to be thinking long term.

  6. Goppy's got nothin' on Mr. & Mrs. Fredd: our 8 year old is getting constant analogies presented to her about Pres. Obama's thinking. She and her classmates in 1st grade last year 'voted' for President. Obama won hands down, and our daughter also voted that way. Why? She said McCain couldn't do e-mail, so he was dumb.

Sigh. Well, we started in earnest with a great opportunity right before the election on Halloween, explaining to her that Mr. Obama's plan for Halloween was to have her go out and trick or treat, then come back and give half her candy to some non-disclosed children who did not go trick or treating, because Pres. Obama said it was fair to take candy from little girls who had more than they could eat, and give it to other little girls who didn't want to go outside on that cold Halloween night to get their own.

Our daughter started to understand why we voted for McCain. She still gets her lessons regualarly, after she hears Dad yelling at ABC's Charlie Gibson on the TV screen all the time.

  7. Josh:
I did a post on a Fox News special about the indoctrination of school children into the liberal agenda. Unbelievable what is going on. Parents have their hands full in this day and age and must take responsibility for their children's education...not just leave it up to the teachers.
    Good to hear from you.

  8. Trestin:
Conservatives have to start thinking like liberals; do our own indoctrinating. Indoctrinating our kids into conservatism is the only answer in fighting against the liberal agenda forced upon us in our culture.

  9. Fredd:
Your kids are lucky to have parents who are aware of the situation in the schools. Some parents don't pay any attention.
There is a little Halloween video where the President answers the door and goes on to tell the kids exactly what you tell yours about the candy. It may be on my YouTube Channel if you want to check it out.
BTW...why are you still watching ABC and Charlie Gibson? Are you a masochist?

  10. CL: yeah, I get that question a lot. ABC has the best ratings of the main stream guys, I watch to see what passes as news (or is ignored as news, such as Climate Gate) with the Lefties.

And yes, it is painful most of the time to watch ABC, but now that 'Red Charlie' is about to retire, I can yell at Diane Sawyer.

    It's kind of cathartic.

As long as it makes you feel better, I get it.
Actually, I used to watch Chris Matthews on Sundays and my hubby couldn't understand why. I just wanted to hear the "other side", but I've given that up. I couldn't watch Chris kiss Obama's butt anymore...it was making me nauseous.
